Boatswain

Background

The boatswain was the pirate crew position that was responsible for the overall maintenance of the pirate ship and its resources. The boatswain also was responsible for inspecting the sails and rigging of the vessel each morning and reporting this to the captain. Overall the boatswain was in charge of all of the activities that occurred on the deck including the anchor and the management of the sails.
