James Plantain
Background
James Plantain, also known as Plaintain was a famous pirate from British Jamaica and became a leader on the pirate haven of Madagascar, even establishing his own base of operations at a location known as Ranter Bay. Established in 1715, Plantain later became known as the 'King of Ranter Bay' and was successful in leading his breakaway republic until 1728 when a rebellion threatened his rule and he was forced to flee for his life.
